OTTAWA, Aug. 12 (YPA) – A number of Muslims in Canada on Sunday staged a sit-in in the capital, Ottawa, expressing their anger after the ban imposed by Saudi authorities on their travel to perform Hajj.
The protesters raised slogans denouncing Saudi regime’s policy in monopolizing Hajj and preventing Muslims in several countries, including Syria, Yemen, Qatar, Egypt and Canada, from performing this religious ritual.
In a public square in the center of the country, the Canadian Muslims dressed in Hajj clothes and put a three-dimensional shape of the Holy Kaaba in the sit-in place, in addition to posting many photos documenting the Saudi authorities’ practices and the acts of Mohammed bin Salman and his interference in the affairs of other countries.
Riyadh has cut ties with Ottawa on the backdrop of human rights and has taken several measures, including banning flights between the two countries, which has prevented Muslims from performing the ritual this year.
