ADEN, Nov. 04 (YPA) – Fierce clashes erupted in and around the occupied city of Aden on Wednesday between UAE-backed factions of the so-called Al-Amaliqa Brigades and Saudi-backed “Dera Al-Watan” forces.
Media sources reported that “Dera Al-Watan” forces shelled a military convoy carrying UAE armored vehicles as it entered Aden from the battlefronts in Lahj.
The clashes come amid a series of rapid military setbacks and heavy losses suffered by Saudi-led coalition factions on the western Lahj fronts in fighting against Sanaa forces, alongside mutual accusations of betrayal and allegations that Saudi Arabia is seeking to weaken and dismantle forces aligned with Abu Dhabi.
Meanwhile, Aidarous al-Zubaidi, the UAE-appointed head of the dissolved Southern Transitional Council (STC), is reportedly preparing to reshuffle the council’s membership in a bid to shield his faction from Saudi efforts to dismantle it.
Separately, Amr al-Baidh, al-Zubaidi’s foreign affairs representative, acknowledged the severity of the military situation, warning that the remaining front lines could collapse at any moment.
Abu Dhabi, meanwhile, is seeking to open channels of communication and explore political options to prevent the complete collapse of its allied forces.
