Axios: US-Israeli attack to launch on Iran after congressional elections

WASHINGTON, Oct. 29 (YPA) – The American website Axios revealed, citing American and Israeli officials, that Washington and Tel Aviv have prepared a plan to launch a new military attack on Iran if the diplomatic track falters, to begin shortly after the midterm congressional elections scheduled for November.

According to the website, the resumption of attacks could be large-scale with intensive bombing unless an agreement is reached at the last minute, lasting a week and targeting nuclear and energy facilities and senior leaders in Iran.

It indicated that the Chief of Staff of the occupation army, Eyal Zamir, held talks on Monday with the commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), Admiral Brad Cooper, to coordinate the moves.

In contrast, regional parties are continuing their diplomatic efforts to prevent escalation, and mediators are pushing Tehran to allow inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) access to its facilities in exchange for the release of humanitarian aid and the easing of oil restrictions.

US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that “everything is possible at this stage,” without ruling out launching further attacks after the midterm elections.
