US orders diplomatic mission to leave Saudi Arabia amid escalating drone, missile attacks

WASHINGTON, Oct. 22 (YPA) – The US Department of State has ordered non-emergency US government personnel and family members to depart Saudi Arabia, citing ongoing security threats and the kingdom’s inability to intercept recent aerial attacks launched by Sanaa forces targeting strategic military and industrial sites deep within Saudi territory.

Earlier today, Sanaa forces claimed responsibility for four major military operations utilizing ballistic missiles and drones, targeting the Saudi Ministry of Defense in Riyadh, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Aramco facilities in Yanbu, and Abha International Airport.

In response to the security situation, Saudi Aramco directed employees at its headquarters in Dhahran to transition to remote work. Meanwhile, Agence France-Presse reported that Aramco personnel in Dhahran had already been working remotely since the previous week following earlier Yemeni strikes targeting the company’s main headquarters.

The continuous wave of cross-border attacks has forced Saudi authorities to cancel numerous economic, political, and sports events, prompting widespread travel advisories against travel to the kingdom.

In September, Sanaa forces announced military directives aimed at lifting the blockade and ending the war on Yemen, accusing Riyadh of refusing to implement the roadmap agreed upon by both parties to resolve the conflict.
