Saudi Aramco evacuates staff at Eastern Province headquarters

PARIS, Oct. 22 (YPA) – Saudi Aramco has instructed its remaining staff at its headquarters in the Eastern Province to evacuate until further notice, following an escalation of attacks by the Sanaa forces targeting the Kingdom, according to sources cited by Agence France-Presse (AFP).

Three sources with knowledge of the matter, speaking on condition of anonymity for security reasons, stated that the majority of Aramco employees had already been working remotely since Sanaa forces shelled the headquarters last week, with only essential personnel operating on-site at the Dhahran facility.

The sources confirmed that only essential personnel had continued working on-site before being ordered to evacuate the building and work from home until further notice. They added that the residential areas within the sprawling compound have not been closed or evacuated.

Previously, the Saudi Ministry of Energy announced that an administrative building belonging to Aramco in Dhahran—where the company is headquartered—was targeted on the evening of Tuesday, October 13, resulting in a “limited fire.”
