Earthquake center records 3 minor tremors west of the Gulf of Aden

ADEN, Oct. 17 (YPA) – The Yemeni Center for Monitoring and Studying Earthquakes and Volcanoes announced, on Saturday, the recording of 3 minor earthquakes west of the Gulf of Aden.

It explained that the stations recorded a 2.7 magnitude earthquake at 11:10 PM at a depth of 11 km, another of magnitude 3.0 at 11:47 PM at the same depth, and a third of magnitude 2.9 at 3:37 AM at a depth of 10 km.

The center attributed the increased seismic activity in the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea to the continuous opening of the sea and the Gulf of Aden and the movement of the Arabian Plate away from the African Plate.
