PARIS, Oct. 15 (YPA) – France announced the start of what it described as “defensive operations” to protect Saudi oil facilities, amid the escalating confrontation between Saudi Arabia and Sana’a forces, according to the Israeli newspaper Maariv, citing Reuters on Thursday.
A spokesman for the French Deputy Foreign Minister said that the operations had begun without providing details on the nature of the participation or the size of the forces and military capabilities used.
The announcement comes amid increasing escalation after Sana’a forces threatened to continue targeting Saudi Arabia following an attack that targeted the Aramco headquarters in Dhahran and caused a fire and damage, and with missile and drone attacks that Saudi Arabia has witnessed in recent days and fears of an escalation of the confrontation and its impact on the security of facilities and energy supplies.
