Magnitude 4.7 earthquake strikes east of Gulf of Aden

SANAA, Sep. 28 — The Seismological and Volcanological Observatory Center, recorded a magnitude 4.7 earthquake on the Richter scale east of the Gulf of Aden on Monday.

Eng. Mohammed Al-Houthi, head of the center, stated to the Yemeni News Agency (SABA) in Sanaa that the earthquake was recorded at 8:37 p.m. at a depth of 10 kilometers.

He noted that the Gulf of Aden region and Yemeni territorial waters are among the most seismically active areas due to the continuous expansion of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, along with the movement of the African tectonic plate.
