Sanaa government declares up to 50% discounts for importers through Hodeida seaports

HODEIDA, Sept. 27 (YPA) – The Sanaa-based government announced on Sunday the start of implementing reduced fees for importers using the seaports in Hodeida province.

This came in a joint statement issued by the Red Sea Ports Corporation, the Tax and Customs Authority, and the General Authority for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control in Sanaa.

The statement affirmed that the discounts were being implemented in accordance with directives from the President of the Supreme Political Council and the acting head of the government, with the aim of encouraging the commercial and industrial sectors to import through Hodeida’s seaports and encouraging importers to avoid exorbitant and illegal fees imposed at ports controlled by the Saudi occupation and its proxies.

It said reductions on ship and container fees, taxes and other charges at the seaports would reach up to 50% for containerized goods and vessels, effective October 1, 2026.

It called on shipping agents and importers to take advantage of the discounts and shift toward importing through Hodeida’s seaports, and to contact the three authorities to verify the requirements for obtaining the approved discounts under the joint decision issued by the ministers of Transport and Public Works, Finance, and Economy, Industry and Investment.
