Human Rights Authority, Transport Ministry condemn Saudi airstrikes on service projects

SANAA, Sept. 26 (YPA) – The National Human Rights Authority and the Ministry of Transport and Public Works in Sanaa have condemned airstrikes by the Saudi-led coalition targeting civilian infrastructure and projects across the governorates of Taiz, Saada, and Ibb, describing the attacks as a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and full-fledged war crimes.

In an official statement, the Human Rights Authority specified that the airstrikes hit the Al-Akboosh water project in the Haifan district of Taiz governorate, Qatabir district in Saada governorate, and the Al-Daleel bridge in Ibb governorate.

The Authority emphasized that targeting civilian objects and water infrastructure constitutes a breach of Article 54 of Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions. It held the Saudi regime and the coalition fully responsible for compounding the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

For its part, the Ministry of Transport stated that the targeting of the Al-Daleel bridge is part of a systematic campaign that, since 2015, has resulted in the destruction of over 100 bridges and 8,185 kilometers of roads, with estimated financial losses exceeding $2.1 billion.

The statement concluded with an appeal to the international community and human rights organizations to condemn and document these acts to hold those responsible accountable.
