Video: STC surrounds Saudi-backed Southern Future Council in Seiyun

HADRAMOUT, Sept. 26 (YPA) – Dozens of supporters of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) on Saturday imposed a tight blockade around an event to launch the Southern Future Council, affiliated with Fadi Baoum, a former leader who broke away from the STC and has been based in the Saudi capital Riyadh since January.

Participants in the protest, held near a hotel in central Seiyun, the administrative center of the Hadramout’s districts, rejected the creation of new entities in Hadramout province that they said could divide the Hadramout ranks and disrupt the popular and political position on the southern issue.

They added that the creation of new Saudi-funded entities and councils was aimed at fragmenting the province’s position and the broader stance of people in the southern and eastern provinces involved in the southern cause.

The protesters called for the withdrawal of all Saudi-backed forces from the districts of the province, while continuing to demand an end to the Saudi tutelage over southern Yemen.
