Southern official describes treatment of Aden retirees as ‘systematic torture’

ADEN, Sept. 23 (YPA) – Dr. Abdo Al-Maatari, head of the Coordination Council for Forcibly Dismissed Military, Security and Civilian Personnel in Aden, described the treatment of thousands of retirees as “systematic torture,” in a scathing criticism of the Saudi-backed government.

Al-Maatari said the Saudi-backed government had continued to withhold the salaries and entitlements of retirees and forcibly dismissed personnel for more than three months, citing what he described as government indifference and delays, with no regard for the living conditions of their families.

He stressed that the suspension of entitlements for forcibly dismissed retirees was no longer merely an administrative delay, but had become a tool of pressure and direct harm affecting the dignity of military personnel, the security of their children and their daily lives.

Al-Maatari warned that further escalation could become an unavoidable option to secure their rights and end what he described as the government’s intransigence and disregard.
