Dozens killed, wounded in explosions targeting Saudi-backed camp near Aden

SANAA, Sept. 21 (YPA) – A series of powerful explosions rocked a Saudi-backed factions’ camp on the northern outskirts of Aden early Monday, reportedly killing and wounding dozens.

Local sources said the explosions were heard across large areas of Ja’wala , near the administrative border with Lahj Governorate.

The blasts reportedly targeted a training camp belonging to the so-called “Dera Al-Watan” Salafist forces, which were established and funded by Saudi Arabia.

According to reports from the area, the explosions coincided with reports of extensive air attacks involving drones and ballistic missiles that struck the camp.

The sources said the camp had received significant military reinforcements in recent days, including members of Salafist factions brought in by Saudi forces from Yemen’s eastern governorates.

Reports indicated that dozens of personnel from the factions were killed or wounded, including senior field commanders such as Major Saeed Awad Al-Daqees, chief of training for the Second Division of the so-called “Dera Al-Watan” forces.

The strikes came as Saudi forces were reportedly preparing to deploy the groups to the western countryside of Taiz.

The developments have again raised concerns over security breaches and military vulnerabilities in areas controlled by Saudi-backed factions in southern Yemen.
