Yemeni antiquities organization releases 36th list of looted artifacts

SANAA, Sept. 15 (YPA) – The General Organization for Antiquities and Museums (GOAM) issued its 36th list of looted Yemeni artifacts on Tuesday, detailing items tracked and currently displayed in foreign auctions and museums.

In an official statement, GOAM reported identifying 17 stolen artifacts and cultural heritage items originating from the Baynun and Dhafar museums. The stolen assets comprise two groups: 15 items stolen from the Baynun Museum in Dhamar Governorate—cataloged in the museum’s 2020 inventory—and two artifacts stolen from the Dhafar Museum in Ibb Governorate in 2021.

The statement noted that these items have been cataloged for documentation, inventory, and tracking purposes.

The GOAM reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring displaced Yemeni antiquities, notifying relevant international bodies, and demanding a halt to illegal auctions to facilitate the return of cultural property.
