SANAA, Aug. 10 (YPA) – The German Foreign Ministry condemned on Friday the air strike of the Saudi-led coalition warplanes, which hit a school bus on Thursday in Dhahyan district of Saada province, northern Yemen, killing at least 50 children.
“The killing of many children, and the resulting grief and pain, is extremely sad,” the ministry spokesman said.
He called on the parties to the conflict to take international humanitarian law into account, adding that the highest priority must always be to protect civilians.
The spokesman called for a comprehensive and independent investigation into such events, confirming at the same time his country’s support to the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, in his efforts to push the parties to the conflict to resume the political process.
On Thursday morning, the Saudi-led coalition warplanes targeted a bus carrying students in central of a popular market in Dhahyan district of Saada, committing the largest massacre against children since the beginning of the coalition war on Yemen.
