Swarms of bees and wasps attack Israeli base in Gush Etzion, injuring soldiers

WEST BANK, Sept. 03 (YPA) – An Israeli military base in the Gush Etzion area of the West Bank was attacked by swarms of bees and wasps, injuring several soldiers and disrupting operations within the base.

Hebrew media reported that soldiers of the 8553rd Reserve Battalion were forced to take shelter inside buildings after the insects spread throughout the base and entered the facilities, making it difficult for them to move around and exit.

Soldiers noted the difficulty in quickly accessing epinephrine injections to treat allergic reactions.

The army attempted to manage the incident by setting traps and locating the hive, but the swarms continued to spread, keeping the soldiers on alert inside the buildings for hours.
