Zionist settlers attempt to burn mosque, graffiti racist slogans in Nablus

NABLUS, Sept. 01 (YPA) – Zionist settlers attempted to set fire to a mosque in the town of Bazariya, northwest of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, early Tuesday morning.

Palestinian sources reported that settlers set fire to a room adjacent to the Nur al-Din Zanki Mosque after failing to break down its doors. Racist slogans were also spray-painted at the scene.

The Palestinian Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs condemned the attack. In an official statement, the ministry said that targeting mosques and places of worship constitutes a dangerous and systematic escalation designed to provoke Muslim sentiments and violate the sanctity of holy sites guaranteed by international law.

Sheikh Nasser Al-Salman, Director General of the Nablus Endowments, stated, “The attempt to burn parts of the Nur al-Din Zanki Mosque and desecrate it with racist slogans reflects the ongoing incitement against our holy sites. Mosques will remain open to their worshippers, and these aggressive attacks will not break our people’s resolve to hold onto their land and sacred sites.”

The ministry called on international human rights organizations to assume their responsibilities, provide protection for places of worship, and curb recurring attacks on Palestinian towns and villages.
