Israeli occupation uproots dozens of olive trees southwest of Jenin

JENIN, Sept. 01 (YPA) – Israeli occupation forces uprooted dozens of olive trees on Tuesday on both sides of the road linking the towns of Arraba and Ya’bad, southwest of Jenin in the occupied West Bank.

Palestinian sources reported that occupation bulldozers and supporting vehicles carried out uprooting and destruction operations on trees located on the edges of the agricultural road under army protection, and the uprooted trees included both old and newly planted trees.

The attack threatens the livelihood of a number of farmers, amid fears that the uprooting operations will expand given the continued settlement construction around Arraba.

The occupation authorities justified the measure as being related to “securing roads and protecting settler movement,” in the context of ongoing violations that include land razing and restricting farmers’ access to their lands.
