Berlin: Thousand shoes in Alexanderplatz to commemorate Gaza’s martyrs

BERLIN, Aug. 31 (YPA) – The German capital, Berlin, witnessed a symbolic event in Alexanderplatz Square, where pro-Palestinian activists placed more than a thousand shoes to commemorate the Palestinians who were killed as a result of the occupation’s attacks on Gaza.

The participants explained that each shoe symbolizes a person who lost his life in the Strip, someone with a family and dreams, not just a number in the news.

The speakers criticized the double standards in the application of international law and the American military interventions in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and Syria. They also called on Germany to bear its historical responsibility in supporting peace and human rights.

The event concluded by emphasizing that the shoes came to remind humanity of its responsibility to prevent the recurrence of tragedies and to call for peace and justice for the Palestinians and all civilians affected by wars around the world.
