Rezaei: Ending the war in Lebanon and the region is a prerequisite for any understanding with Washington

TEHRAN, Aug. 27 (YPA) – The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, affirmed that ending the war in Lebanon and the region is a prerequisite for any understanding with the United States.

 

Rezaei stated that the conditions for any memorandum of understanding with Washington include ending the war in West Asia, particularly in Lebanon, Israel’s withdrawal from the occupied territories, the liberation of Lebanese lands, and ending the war in Gaza. He considered a cessation of hostilities on all fronts to be the “most important condition” for any understanding.

 

He also emphasized that the southern suburbs of Beirut and Beirut itself are a “red line” for Iran, asserting that Tehran does not seek war but confronts those who seek it.

 

He added that Hezbollah was born out of the defense of Lebanon, and had it not confronted Israel and inflicted losses upon it, Israeli forces might have reached Beirut.

 

Rezaei also linked the issue of opening the Strait of Hormuz to ending the wars in the region and affirmed Iran’s continued support for Lebanon with all available means.
