In video: Hadramout tribes continue blocking PetroMasila oil tankers for second consecutive day

HADRAMOUT, Aug. 27 (YPA) –  Hadramout tribes continued to block dozens of oil tankers from leaving through newly established armed checkpoints along the ‘Al-Hadaba’ road in ‘Ghail Bin Yamin’ district for a second consecutive day.

Tribal sources confirmed that heavily armed fighters continued to hold the tankers in response to the continued detention of Sheikh Amr bin Habrish Al-Aliyi, head of the ‘Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance’, in Riyadh for the eighth consecutive month.

Saudi Arabia’s “Special Committee” has held Bin Habrish in Riyadh and barred his return to Hadramout since early January.

Activists shared video footage showing lines of oil tankers detained by tribal fighters—who were recruited mid-last year into the Saudi-funded “Hadramout Protection” forces—as they attempt to pressure authorities to release the alliance’s leader.

The fighters imposed a blanket ban on outgoing oil shipments, while exempting tankers designated to supply coastal power stations to ensure local electricity services remain uninterrupted.
