Hollywood stars call for release of Palestinian prisoner ‘Marwan Barghouti’

WASHINGTON, Aug. 26 (YPA) – More than 20 actors featured in Marvel Cinematic Universe films and television series have demanded the immediate release of Palestinian leader and prisoner “Marwan Barghouti” from Israeli occupation custody.

The appeal marks the latest expansion of the “Free Marwan” campaign, which has drawn support from hundreds of global cultural, artistic, and academic figures.

Signatories include Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Ruffalo, Don Cheadle, Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton, Ian McKellen, Daniel Brühl, Rebecca Hall, Dan Stevens, Tatiana Maslany, May Calamawy, Emma Corrin, Zawe Ashton, Hugo Weaving, and Rob Delaney, alongside other performers associated with Marvel productions.

In a joint statement, the group expressed “deep concern” over Barghouti’s continued detention, ill-treatment, and the denial of his legal rights, calling on the United Nations and international governments to act decisively to secure his release from Israeli occupation prison.
