Large motorcycle protest sweeps Aden over public service collapse, foreign interference

ADEN, Aug. 21 (YPA) – A large motorcycle protest swept through the streets of the Al-Mansoura district in Aden on Thursday night, with residents taking to the roads to protest severe public service collapses, worsening living conditions, and foreign interference.

Demonstrators riding motorcycles paraded through major thoroughfares to express outrage over widespread power outages, water cutoffs, and severe cooking gas shortages, which protesters blame on policies managed by Saudi Arabia’s “Special Committee.”

The escalating protests come amid a deepening humanitarian and economic crisis in the southern port city, marked by declining purchasing power, worsening living conditions, and continued delays in public-sector salary payments, with the Saudi-backed government taking no effective action to alleviate the suffering.

Meanwhile, partial civil disobedience has continued to disrupt activity in Aden for a second consecutive week, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with broad participation from labor unions, businesses, and local residents as part of escalating measures aimed at ending Saudi guardianship and putting a definitive end to foreign interference.
