Iranian Army Chief offers $30,000 bounty for capturing or killing US military personnel
TEHRAN, Aug. 16 (YPA) – The Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Army, Major General Amir Hatami, announced a $30,000 financial reward for any Iranian citizen who captures or kills a US military member attacking Iranian territory.
The statement came during a speech marking “Journalists’ Day” on Sunday, according to Iran’s Mehr News Agency.
“If an Iranian citizen captures or kills an American soldier attacking our land, they will receive a $30,000 reward in the name of the Iranian people,” Hatami said, adding that the reward amount for women would be doubled.
Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding on freedom of navigation on June 18; however, its implementation stalled due to disputes over strait security.
