Saudi Arabia summons pro-Riyadh tribal sheikhs in Yemen

RIYADH, Aug. 16 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia began new efforts on Sunday to reorganize its allied factions in Yemen, following a series of heavy military setbacks suffered by Saudi Arabia in recent weeks.

The Saudi regime has reportedly approved plans to convene a meeting of tribal sheikhs aligned with Riyadh in Yemen.

Saudi Ambassador Mohammed Al Jaber tasked Aden government Information Minister Moammar Al-Eryani with contacting pro-Riyadh tribal leaders in al-Jawf, Marib, and al-Bayda

Riyadh is seeking to hold a meeting of tribal leaders in areas outside the control of the Sanaa authorities, in an effort to reunify them under the direct leadership and supervision of its officers.

According to observers, the move signals the failure of Saudi Arabia’s strategy of mobilizing its military factions and its attempt to rely on the remaining pro-Riyadh tribal fighters in Yemen.
