Naim Qassem: Resistance to pursue its course, rejects dictates of “framework agreement”

BEIRUT, Aug. 14 (YPA) – The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem, affirmed on Friday that the resistance in Lebanon will pursue its choices and will not accept surrender or collapse, accusing the Lebanese government of submitting to Israeli-US dictates and ceding sovereignty through the so-called “Framework Agreement.”

Speaking on the 20th anniversary of the 2006 victory, Sheikh Qassem stated that the resistance’s response on March 2, 2026, to the assassination of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, prevented the enemy from achieving its objectives.

He noted that direct negotiations were decided in favor of the Israeli occupation and restricted Lebanon’s right to international litigation. He called on the government to acknowledge its “failure,” reverse what he described as a “sin,” return to the people, and leverage national assets—foremost among them the resistance and national unity.

Furthermore, Sheikh Qassem underscored the resistance’s commitment to the November 27, 2024 agreement as an operational threshold. He pointed out that the understanding document reached in Islamabad was what deterred the aggression and enabled the return of displaced residents, while reiterating a commitment to internal stability, defending the resistance’s popular base, and safeguarding Lebanon’s sovereignty to the end.
