Protests at Athens port against arrival of Israeli tourists and to condemn Gaza war

ATHENS, Aug. 14 (YPA) – Pro-Palestinian activists staged protests, on Friday, at the port of Piraeus in the Greek capital, Athens, to condemn the arrival of a cruise ship carrying Israelis.

The protesters gathered at the invitation of pro-Palestinian civil society organizations in Greece, chanting slogans demanding freedom for Palestine and condemning the occupation army’s attacks on Palestinians.

They held banners reading “Stop the genocide in Gaza,” “Freedom for Palestine,” and “Murderers, get out,” and carried a large Palestinian flag.

The Israeli tourists disembarked from the ship under the protection of the Greek police and were transported by bus to their destinations within the city.

This comes amidst the ongoing war of extermination in the Gaza Strip, which began on October 7, 2023, with American and European support. To date, this war has resulted in the martyrdom of 73,389 Palestinians and the injury of 174,266 others, the majority of whom are children and women, while thousands of victims remain buried under the rubble.

The ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip came into effect on October 10th, but the Israeli army continues its daily violations and prevents the entry of most humanitarian aid.
