Al-Bukhaiti declares failure of Oman talks, unveils Sanaa’s stance on UAE, final warning to Saudi Arabia
SANAA, Aug. 12 (YPA) – In a significant development reflecting heightened regional tensions, Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, a member of the Ansarullah Political Bureau and Sanaa government official, issued strong warnings on Wednesday, declaring that the recent negotiation tracks in Oman has failed.
Al-Bukhaiti outlined Sanaa’s strict conditions for any settlement with Riyadh, warning that military confrontations would dramatically widen if Saudi Arabia launches a full-scale offensive.
Speaking to Al Mayadeen on Wednesday, Al-Bukhaiti said the Yemeni Armed Forces have accumulated nearly 12 years of combat experience confronting “Israel,” Saudi Arabia, the United States and Britain. He said Sanaa forces carefully select their targets, with their current operations focused exclusively on Saudi weapons depots, troop mobilizations and military installations.
Al-Bukhaiti accused Saudi Arabia of concealing its losses, particularly the number of fatalities, and urged Yemenis serving in Saudi-backed camps to withdraw to protect their lives. He also said rewards would be offered to those who leave.
He warned that any Saudi full-scale attack would prompt Yemeni forces to target oil fields, electricity infrastructure, desalination plants and airports.
Al-Bukhaiti said the Yemeni forces are prepared to fight on three fronts: against “Israel,” the United States and Britain; against Saudi Arabia; and on the domestic front. He stressed that he would prefer fighting “Israel” and the United States “a thousand times” over fighting other Yemeni factions.
He further claimed that Saudi Arabia was pressuring forces affiliated with Tareq Afash to join the fight against Sana’a, while Salafist and Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated groups were fighting alongside Saudi Arabia and the United States.
Oman talks fail, Sanaa sets conditions for Saudi settlement
Al-Bukhaiti declared that the negotiation track in Oman had failed, saying Sanaa does not trust Saudi Arabia to honor or implement any agreement.
He said there was no need for an agreement with Riyadh as long as the equation of “aggression for aggression and blockade for blockade” remains in place. Before any negotiations, he said, Saudi Arabia must halt its aggression, lift the blockade, withdraw its forces and end its intervention entirely, allowing negotiations to proceed among the Yemeni parties.
He also warned that Sanaa’s response would escalate gradually, reiterating that Saudi oil fields, electricity infrastructure, desalination plants and airports could come under attack if Riyadh launches a full-scale offensive.
Hamas mediation and US role
Regarding mediation efforts, Al-Bukhaiti said Hamas had halted its efforts to bridge differences between Ansarullah and the Islah Party, blaming the failure on the latter’s positions and arguments.
He said some Islah figures had reconsidered their positions following Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, but claimed that US influence over the party had prevented rapprochement with Sana’a.
He added that Salafist and Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated groups were fighting alongside Saudi Arabia and, consequently, the United States.
UAE position and warning over Israeli presence
Regarding the UAE, Al-Bukhaiti said Ansarullah does not consider Abu Dhabi an enemy and that the UAE still has an opportunity to withdraw from the US-led alliance. He claimed that a conflict between the UAE and Saudi Arabia in Yemen had been expected to erupt, but that the UAE president ultimately “swallowed what happened.”
Al-Bukhaiti also warned that any “Israeli” presence in the region would be targeted, whether in Somalia or elsewhere.
