Zionist settlers continue their siege of home near Nablus for fourth consecutive day
NABLUS, Aug. 12 (YPA) – A group of Zionist settlers today continued, for the fourth consecutive day, their siege of a Palestinian home in the town of Qusra, south of Nablus.
Palestinian sources reported that settlers raided the vicinity of the home of the Abu Rida family, belonging to Yusuf Abdul Salam Abu Rida, in the Ras al-Ain area of Qusra, imposed a siege around it, prevented residents from reaching the property and erected a tent nearby under the protection of Israeli occupation forces.
The sources added that settlers today blocked the road leading to the home with rocks, amid a heavy presence in the area, which is classified as Area B.
Settlers have reportedly been attempting for around four months to enter and seize the home, prompting members of the family to remain there around the clock in shifts to protect it.
The sources said the settlers have repeatedly cut electricity to the home, pelted it with stones and besieged it on several occasions.
The home is located on the summit of Ras al-Ain Mountain, one of the elevated areas south of Nablus.
Last month, settlers seized the home of Mahmoud al-Toubasi in the village of Jalud, south of Nablus, after forcing the family to leave. The takeover took place on July 22 following a siege that lasted more than three months, during which family members were reportedly assaulted on a daily basis.
According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Israeli forces and settlers carried out 2,256 attacks against Palestinians and their land and property during July. Israeli forces carried out 1,458 attacks, while settlers carried out 798.
The commission said the attacks were concentrated in the governorates of Ramallah and Al-Bireh, with 260 attacks, followed by Nablus with 247, Jenin with 190, Bethlehem with 185, and Hebron with 170.
The commission said the figures demonstrate what it described as clear coordination between military force and colonists’ violence, with the Israeli army providing protection and support that enables attacks to expand and turn their consequences into sustained realities on the ground.
