Sanaa negotiating team outlines terms for future talks, holds Saudi Arabia responsible for escalation

SANAA, Aug. 11 (YPA) – Mohamed Abdulsalam, the head of the Sanaa negotiating delegation, affirmed on Tuesday that communications and meetings with various parties are ongoing to clarify Sanaa’s position on recent developments.

He stressed that military operations against Saudi Arabia fall within the frame of a legitimate response to aggressions, including the targeting of Sanaa International Airport.

In a statement issued by the delegation, Abdulsalam stated that Sanaa had adhered to the truce and de-escalation for four years without carrying out any hostile action. Conversely, he noted that Saudi Arabia exploited this period to escalate economic and living pressures, tightening the blockade through arbitrary ship inspection measures and targeting the banking and commercial sectors.

Abdulsalam added that Sanaa has not closed the door to dialogue and negotiation, stating that the Saudi side was the one to recently announce its refusal, contradicting its claims of supporting peaceful solutions and utilizing procrastination to complete its military preparations. He affirmed that the armed forces will continue to confront plots and defend Yemen’s sovereignty and independence.

The statement concluded by noting that regional and international parties have been informed that any future negotiation track must fulfill the legitimate rights of the Yemeni people. Chief among these are the opening of airports and seaports, the payment of public sector salaries, and the resumption of oil and gas exports to support public services in line with the roadmap.
