Zionist settlers attack Abu Njeim village, injure residents and assault ambulance crews

BETHLEHEM, Aug. 08 (YPA) – A Palestinian resident was injured by live ammunition on Friday evening in an attack carried out by settlers on the village of Abu Njeim, southeast of Bethlehem.

Palestinian sources reported that settlers attacked the village and opened live fire at residents’ vehicles, injuring one Palestinian.

The settlers then attacked an ambulance that arrived to provide medical assistance to the injured man, smashing its windows and spraying its crew with pepper spray, causing the ambulance personnel to suffer from suffocation.

Director of the Palestine Red Crescent Society’s ambulance service in Bethlehem, Abdul Halim Jaafreh, said that two ambulance officers were injured after settlers attacked the ambulance they were traveling in, rendering the vehicle inoperable.

The security source also confirmed that another Palestinian sustained a broken hand after settlers attacked his truck near the university housing area in the village.

Following the attack, the settlers closed the village’s main road and assaulted civil defense crews.
