Saudi maritime security tied to addressing political and humanitarian roots of Yemen crisis, says Bin Habtour

SANAA, Aug. 05 (YPA) – Dr. Abdulaziz Bin Habtour, a member of the Supreme Political Council in Sanaa, stated that the operation announced by the Yemeni Armed Forces targeting a Saudi vessel north of Yanbu reflects a shift in maritime confrontation dynamics.

He emphasized that the security of Saudi navigation relies on addressing the root causes of the Yemeni crisis created by the Kingdom over more than 12 years.

In a press statement, Bin Habtour noted that relying on altering shipping lanes or seeking alternative routes is no longer effective in bypassing measures announced by the leadership. He added that the “blockade-for-blockade” equation is being established through field realities.

He further stated that the escalation and expanding scope of confrontation directly result from the ongoing blockade and restrictions imposed on the Yemeni people, stressing that the safest path for Saudi Arabia is to address the political and humanitarian roots of the crisis rather than attempting to bypass its repercussions.
