Mass demonstration in Stockholm condemns Israeli occupation crimes, demands immediate ceasefire

STOCKHOLM, Aug. 02 (YPA) – Hundreds of protesters gathered at Odenplan square in central Stockholm to denounce ongoing Israeli occupation aggression in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, demanding an immediate and permanent ceasefire.

Demonstrators raised Palestinian flags and banners condemning acts of genocide and massacres, chanting slogans warning against Israeli attempts to undermine truce efforts and calling for international exposure of its violations.

In a video address, Israeli Knesset member Ofer Cassif launched a sharp critique of Benjamin Netanyahu’s government policies, comparing its practices against Palestinians to fascist regimes. Cassif referenced warnings by Israeli thinker Yeshayahou Leibowitz regarding “moral collapse” and the rise of extremism, stating that widespread destruction and ethnic cleansing in Gaza validate those warnings.

The protest comes as the war on Gaza enters its second year, leaving tens of thousands dead and wounded since October 2023 and destroying roughly 90% of civilian infrastructure.
