Meteorology forecasts rainfall across several Yemeni provinces

SANAA, July 31 (YPA) – Yemen’s National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning has forecast rainfall across several provinces over the next 24 hours.

In its latest weather bulletin, the center said rain accompanied at times by hail and strong downdraft winds is expected across the provinces of Al-Dhalea, Taiz, Ibb, Raymah, Dhamar, Sana’a, Amran, Al-Mahwit, Hajjah, and Saada, as well as parts of the Tihama Plain and the western coastal areas.

Scattered showers are also expected in parts of Al-Bayda, Lahj, Abyan, Shabwa, Hadramout, and Al-Mahra, with the rain expected to extend to parts of the southern coastline.

The center warned citizens against the sudden flow of flash floods in streambeds and valleys, advising against being present in or attempting to cross their channels during and after rainfall.

It also cautioned about the dangers of thunderstorms, hail, and strong downdrafts, urging people to avoid high-altitude areas and to stay away from electrical towers and tall trees.

The center further warned of reduced horizontal visibility, rockfalls, and mudslides on roads, mountain slopes, and coastal plains due to heavy rainfall and fog formation.
