Two dead, five injured in attack targeting Saudi-backed factions in Al-Abar, Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, July 18 (YPA) – At least two gunmen were killed and five others were injured early Saturday in a surprise attack launched by tribal gunmen targeting Saudi-backed “Emergency” factions in the “Khashm Al-Jabal” area along the Al-Abar road in eastern Yemen’s Hadramout governorate.

Informed sources reported that the clashes resulted in the death of two gunmen and the injury of five members of the “Emergency” factions, with the motives remaining unknown.

This development follows a similar attack carried out by tribal gunmen on Friday evening in the Ramah district, which resulted in the death of seven recruits from the Saudi-backed “Dera Al-Watan” factions.

Following the attack, the desert district of Al-Abar witnessed a widespread military deployment of vehicles and armored cars belonging to the “Emergency” and “Dera Al-Watan” factions along the desert road.

This escalation comes a week after a meeting held by the dissolved UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in the Wadi and Sahara districts of Hadramout, during which it demanded the withdrawal of Saudi-funded “Emergency” factions from all districts of the governorate.
