IRGC: Failed US attacks result in closure of Strait of Hormuz, downed 50th drone

TEHRAN, Sept. 02 (YPA) – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Public Relations announced the start of a military response targeting US forces, following US strikes on Iran’s southern coast.

An IRGC statement said the ongoing presence of the Iranian people and the power of its forces in the Strait of Hormuz have unsettled White House leadership and driven US forces to desperation. The statement alleged that U.S. forces launched indiscriminate strikes targeting multiple sites along Iran’s southern coastline, including several civilian locations.

The IRGC noted these attacks further reinforced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and strengthened the resolve of forces to confront foreign intervention in the region.

Confirming the start of retaliatory operations, the IRGC reported that its first action was downing a 50th advanced US Military MQ-9 drone using a modern aerospace defense system. Further operational results will be released to the Iranian public later, the statement added.
