Girl raped after being kidnapped in Aden

ADEN, July 18 (YPA) – A legal advisor revealed on Saturday the rape of a girl after her abduction in the southern Yemeni city of Aden.

Legal advisor Nabil Ahmed Al-Amoudi confirmed in a Facebook post, which was monitored by the Yemeni Press Agency, that influential figures abducted a girl named Hayat and took her to a rest house in the Al-Arish area, where she was raped throughout the night.

He indicated that the incident was met with a strict cover-up by local authorities, and the victim’s family was threatened.

The incident sparked widespread condemnation on social media, with human rights activists demanding the swift identification and prosecution of the perpetrators.

This comes days after human rights activist Adel Al-Hasani revealed details of sexual assaults suffered by detainees in the prisons of the “Rapid Intervention” forces in Lahj Governorate, amid deteriorating security conditions in Aden and increasing complaints of violations attributed to leaders of factions loyal to Saudi Arabia and the UAE in recent weeks.
