Cohen: “Israel” intends to maintain its military presence inside Lebanese territory

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, July 17 (YPA) – Israeli Cabinet member Eli Cohen said that “Israel” intends to maintain its military presence inside Lebanese territory in the coming years, claiming that the move is based on provisions of a memorandum of understanding reached with the Lebanese government.

Cohen said the memorandum of understanding “explicitly stipulates Israel’s presence inside Lebanon in the coming years,” referring to the continued deployment of Israeli occupation forces in border areas.

He added that Israeli occupation forces would continue their deployment in a “security belt” inside southern Lebanon, claiming that the move aims to “ensure the defense of northern Israeli residents” and prevent future security threats.

Cohen’s remarks come amid ongoing tensions along the Lebanese-Palestinian border and mounting debate over the future of Israel’s military presence in southern Lebanon, as regional and diplomatic efforts continue to shape post-conflict arrangements following the recent confrontation between Hezbollah and Israeli forces.
