Saudi forces cancel flights at Aden airport, transfers Yemenia planes to Djibouti

ADEN, July 13 (YPA) – A state of heightened alert gripped Aden International Airport on Monday as Saudi forces carried out a comprehensive security operation, including the forced evacuation of passenger terminals and the cancellation of all scheduled flights, amid unprecedented military and security measures.

According to informed sources, Saudi directives ordered the complete evacuation of passengers and their families from the airport premises and their relocation outside the facility.

The measures coincided with strict military orders to immediately remove and evacuate all Yemenia Airways aircraft stationed on the airport’s runway and transfer them to Djibouti International Airport.

The sudden developments came amid official silence over the reasons behind the heightened alert. However, the measures on the ground reflected a state of maximum readiness imposed by Saudi forces at the strategic facility, resulting in a complete halt to air traffic and the suspension of normal airport operations.

The move follows Saudi airstrikes targeting Sanaa International Airport in an attempt to prevent the arrival of an Iranian aircraft carrying passengers and officials who had participated in the funeral ceremony of the late Iranian leader Ali Khamenei the previous week.
