Albanese demand immediate arrest warrant for Israeli Defense Minister Katz after his admission of committing war crimes in Gaza, Lebanon
NEW YORK, July 13 (YPA) – The UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese, called on Sunday for an immediate arrest warrant to be issued against Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz after he admitted to committing war crimes in Gaza and Lebanon.
Albanese said in a post on the X platform, that “an immediate arrest warrant should be issued against this war criminal who admitted his crimes,” stressing that the impunity of Israeli leaders increases the scale of destruction inflicted on a system designed to protect everyone.
The call came after televised statements by Katz in which he said regarding Lebanon: “I said that southern Lebanon would become like Gaza, and we would apply the Rafah model, we would destroy everything there, and that is what we actually did.”
He added that infrastructure was destroyed and homes in 24 villages along the border, some hundreds of years old, were razed to the ground, noting that the army systematically destroyed the villages using bulldozers and explosives, and that 90% of the homes were lost, with between 15,000 and 20,000 homes destroyed.
