Armed tensions escalate in Hadramout after Saudi-backed commander’s convoy detained

HADRAMOUT, July 10 (YPA) – Armed tensions have escalated in Al-Abr district of Yemen’s Hadramout province, where Saudi-backed factions have remained on high alert amid growing fears of armed confrontations.

Local sources in Hadramout said the Saudi-backed “Emergency Forces” intercepted and detained the convoy of Saleh Al-Majidi, commander of the Third Division and the First Brigade, at a security checkpoint in Al-Abr district on Thursday.

In response, the Saudi-backed Dera Al-Watan forces deployed dozens of fighters, supported by Saudi military vehicles and armored personnel carriers, to the Al-Amiriyah junction in the same district following Al-Majidi’s detention, according to the sources.

The motives for the detention remain unclear.

According to the sources, the area has turned into a scene of mobilization among Saudi-backed factions, warning that continued tensions could trigger armed clashes between the groups.
