MUSCAT, July 10 (YPA) – Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi met with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Friday in Muscat to discuss current regional and international developments, including the situation regarding shipping and navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and its repercussions on international trade, energy supplies, and supply chains.
The Omani Foreign Ministry said in a post on the “X” platform, monitored by the Yemeni news agency Saba, that the two sides emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and consultation regarding these developments, and supporting efforts aimed at strengthening understanding and cooperation with various parties and mitigating the repercussions, in accordance with international law and taking into account the interests of the countries of the region.
The meeting also addressed the course of historical relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of India, and ways to enhance the strategic partnership in the fields of trade, investment, energy, logistics, and modern technologies.
The two ministers discussed strengthening cooperation between companies in both countries and encouraging quality partnerships and mutual investments in a way that serves common interests and keeps pace with promising economic opportunities.
