Rights group urges Canada to investigate millions in charitable funds sent to Israeli organizations

OTTAWA, July 09 (YPA) – The Canadian organization “Just Peace Advocates” has called on the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to launch an investigation into the volume of funding provided by the “United Israel Appeal of Canada” (UIAC) to the “Jewish Agency for Israel,” and to verify its compliance with the country’s charitable sector laws.

According to a statement issued by the organization, based on a study conducted by Canadian researcher Dr. Miles Howe, the Jewish Federations of Canada and the UIAC have served for decades as a primary channel for transferring Canadian donations to the Israeli occupation.

The study highlights the role of the UIAC in managing and transferring funds within the network of Canadian Jewish federations, alleging that these funds contribute to financing settlement projects in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The research examines the trajectory of the collected funds, explaining that donations flow from the Jewish Federations of Canada to the UIAC, which subsequently transfers a substantial portion of them to “Israel”.

According to the organization, “the Jewish Agency for Israel” is the primary beneficiary, having received over 651 million Canadian dollars (approximately 475 million US dollars) between 2000 and 2024.

Citing tax returns and Canadian charity registry records, Howe describes the UIAC as the central hub of the Canadian charitable financing network directed toward the Israeli entity.

He further noted that the organization is formally linked to a network of 12 Canadian Jewish federations, which are part of a broader system comprising approximately 150 federations across North America, operating for decades as the official Canadian fundraising agent for the Jewish Agency for “Israel”.
