Iran: ‘Any U.S. action in Strait of Hormuz will face decisive response’

TEHRAN, July 02 (YPA) – The Central Headquarters of Khatam al-Anbiya, affiliated with the Iranian Armed Forces, warned on Thursday that any U.S. intervention in the Strait of Hormuz would be met with a swift and decisive response from Iran’s military.

In a statement issued Thursday, the headquarters said that “the Strait of Hormuz is not a playground for the aggressive United States, but an area under the absolute sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” stressing that the security and stability of the strategic waterway constitute a red line for Iran’s armed forces.

The statement added that all commercial and tanker vessels must follow the navigation route designated by Iran to ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

It warned that any failure to comply with the designated route or disregard for the Islamic Republic of Iran’s maritime navigation protocols in the strait would be met with an immediate and firm response from the armed forces and would place the security of the violating vessels at risk.

The statement further stated that any attempt by the United States to interfere in security affairs or undertake any disruptive action in the Strait of Hormuz would be regarded as a threat to Iran’s national sovereignty and would prompt a rapid and decisive response.

It also said that the continued presence of U.S. manned and unmanned military aircraft over the Strait of Hormuz undermines the security of the vital waterway and threatens regional stability.

The statement concluded by affirming that Iran would not hesitate to take any measures necessary to defend its sovereign rights in the Strait and repel any aggression by the U.S. military or its allies.
