Iran: The Strait of Hormuz is under Iranian sovereignty, not American sovereignty

TEHRAN, July 02 (YPA) – The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister confirmed that the Strait of Hormuz is under Iranian sovereignty and command, and not under the authority of the US Central Command, emphasizing Tehran’s position regarding its responsibility for managing one of the world’s most important waterways for oil transportation.

His remarks came amid growing international attention to maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, coinciding with indirect talks between Iran and the United States, and continued monitoring of developments in vessel traffic through this strategic passage.
