Armed men attempt to storm criminal investigation headquarters in Aden

ADEN, June 30 (YPA) – The headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department in the Khor Maksar district of Aden was reportedly the target of an attempted armed raid on Tuesday by gunmen affiliated with Saudi-backed armed factions seeking the release of a man and a woman arrested on alcohol-related charges.

According to local sources, the suspects were detained overnight after authorities allegedly found them in possession of alcoholic beverages and transferred them to the Criminal Investigation headquarters.

The sources said the department deployed additional security forces around the facility to prevent any attempted assault or effort to free the detainees, whose identities were not disclosed.

The incident comes amid what local reports describe as escalating tensions involving networks engaged in the trafficking of alcohol and narcotics in Aden.

Those reports allege that some of these networks receive protection from certain Saudi-backed armed factions, contributing to the city’s deteriorating security situation.
