Hamas calls on int’l community to halt ‘war of genocide’ on Gaza, hold occupation accountable

GAZA, June 27 (YPA) – The Hamas movement called on the international community and the United Nations to assume their legal and moral responsibilities, and to take urgent, practical measures to halt the ongoing war of genocide against the Gaza Strip, lift the imposed blockade, and hold the Israeli occupation leaders accountable for war crimes and gross violations against Palestinian civilians.

The movement emphasized that achieving peace is unattainable without ending the occupation and enabling the Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate national rights.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Hamas said that the occupation continues to commit crimes of genocide, starvation, and blockade, alongside killings, displacement, and the systematic destruction of the vital components of life in the Gaza Strip, as well as the targeting of civilians and infrastructure. It deemed these practices a flagrant violation of international law.

The movement stressed that the occupation is incapable of imposing security or stability; rather, it exacerbates the suffering of the Palestinians and reinforces their adherence to their national rights, foremost among which are halting the aggression, lifting the blockade, and ending the occupation.

Furthermore, Hamas emphasized that despite the war of genocide, starvation, and blockade it faces, the Palestinian people will continue their steadfastness and adherence to their national constants. It stressed that attempts to break their will or impose surrender will not succeed, and that they will continue their struggle until achieving freedom, self-determination, and the establishment of their independent, fully sovereign Palestinian state with Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital.

Hamas added that the experiences of peoples throughout history have proven that occupations are destined to vanish, and that the will of peoples seeking freedom is invincible. It underscored that policies of killing, blockade, and imposing facts by force will not grant the occupation legitimacy, nor will they provide it with security or stability.

The movement renewed its pledge to continue defending the Palestinian people and their legitimate national rights, led by halting the aggression, lifting the blockade, ending the occupation, and enabling Palestinians to exercise their right to freedom, self-determination, return, and the establishment of their independent Palestinian state with Quds as its capital.
