BERLIN, June 21 (YPA) – Thousands of protesters gathered in the heart of the German capital, Berlin, on Saturday in a large mass march to express their absolute solidarity with the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples.
The demonstration came as a protest against the escalating attacks carried out by the Israeli army on the Gaza Strip and Lebanese cities, amid growing international calls for a ceasefire and the protection of civilians.
The march began at the historic Oranien Square in the Kreuzberg district, where participants walked toward the famous Sonnenallee Street in Neukölln.
German security authorities imposed a strict cordon and intensive precautionary measures along the protest route to control the large crowds that arrived from various parts of the capital.
Protesters raised their voices strongly to condemn Israeli policies in the occupied Palestinian territories, sharply criticizing the German government for continuing to export weapons to Israel.
Demonstrators considered that German military support directly contributes to the ongoing suffering of children and women in the targeted areas, calling on the Chancellor and political leadership to urgently reconsider these positions.
“This is not a war, this is genocide… “Israel” is bombing and Germany is supporting.”
The demonstration saw a heavy display of Palestinian and Lebanese flags, along with multilingual banners carrying strong messages such as “Stop the genocide” and “Gaza under fire.”
Participants also carried images of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons, highlighting their plight and humanitarian suffering under the current conditions.
They chanted passionate slogans calling for freedom for Palestine and an immediate end to the occupation, describing what is happening in Gaza as a genocidal crime requiring urgent international action.
The event concluded peacefully at the intersection of Boppstraße and Sonnenallee, after participants delivered a firm message rejecting international silence over crimes committed against civilians.
