TEHRAN, June 20 (YPA) – The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)’s navy on Saturday called on commercial vessels to coordinate with its forces before transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
This followed after the Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters declared in a statement the reclosure of the strategic waterway.
According to Iranian state television, the IRGC Navy said that ships intending to pass through the Strait of Hormuz should coordinate with Iranian authorities before entering the route.
The call came after the Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces announced the renewed closure of the strait, citing the United States’ failure to fulfill its commitments under the first clause of the memorandum of understanding, as well as continued Israeli ceasefire violations in Lebanon and the continued presence of Israeli occupation forces in southern Lebanon.
The developments have renewed concerns over navigation and maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route for energy supplies and international trade.
