Araqchi discusses “Islamabad memorandum” with Kuwaiti counterpart, emphasizing dialogue with Gulf states
TEHRAN, June 18 (YPA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, during a telephone call with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, affirmed Tehran’s commitment to its good-neighborliness policy.
During the call Araqchi underscored the importance of dialogue with Gulf states to enhance cooperation, dispel existing ambiguities, and restore peace and stability to the region.
Araqchi briefed his Kuwaiti counterpart on the provisions and updates regarding the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding”—digitally signed between Iran and the United States—whose full 14-clause text was published by Iran’s IRNA news agency.
The memorandum’s most prominent terms include the cessation of military operations across all fronts, including Lebanon, and the initiation of a negotiation track toward a final agreement within 60 days. Both sides agreed to sustain diplomatic consultations to follow up on the bilateral relations and issues raised.
